"I don't think it's the mother's job to beat the children. It's the duty of the father. And, besides, he impresses them so much more." (p.54)
This story was about a boy whose name was Dicky. He was so a naughty boy and bothered their family. He wouldn't listen to his mother's word and just kept doing mischief. His mother, Mrs. Bendall was always bothered by him. One day she told about his bad behavior to her friend, Mrs. Spears. Then she said that parents couldn't bring up their children without beating. She disagreed her friend's word but thought there were nothing to do except for beating. At the night she asked her husband to beat Dicky instead of her...
I agreed with Mrs. Spears opinion roughly. However, I'd like to scold my children not by physically but by mentally. Too much beating would be cruelty. I thought it needed both of physically and mentally discipline to bring up my children. DIcky's parents had to do mentally one.
